Meet the Founder
Hey, hi! I’m Jess. I’m the whole operation behind Face Status and Face Status Ink, which means lashes, brows and fine line tattoos all come from the same pair of hands in the same small studio in Sunbury. Two crafts, one person, and a lot of very still clients.

How the biz started
I first got lash extensions back in 2015 with Melbourne Lashes. Six years later I did my lash training with her, because her sets were incredible, I trusted her completely, and she was the kind of artist I wanted to be. Best decision I have ever made. The Gemini Lash Bar opened in 2021 out of a home studio in Tullamarine, as a 5-9 alongside teaching full time. It grew, I moved to Sunbury, and it became Face Status. Five years of up-skilling later, I have over 250 five star reviews and a client list I am ridiculously protective of.

The part most people leave out
At the start of 2024 I left teaching and went all in on the studio. Going all in taught me exactly what I wanted, and what I wanted was a studio that stays small. One chair, one client, no pressure to fill a diary. So I went back to the classroom part time, and the studio gets to be the thing I love rather than the thing that has to pay my mortgage. I am telling you this because it changes what you get. I have never once needed to talk someone into a booking. If your lashes need a break, I will tell you. If the tattoo you have described will not hold at that size, I will tell you that too. That honesty is the whole business.

Then came the Ink
In 2025 I picked up a tattoo machine. Face Status Ink is the fine line side of the studio. Small, delicate, drawn by me, tattooed in the same room where I do lashes and brows. Flash designs from the current sheet, custom pieces designed with you, and commemorative work that I take enormous care with. It is less of a leap than it sounds. I have always drawn. I learnt young, and in my early twenties I had a little business selling drawings, then drawing on chopping boards that people bought as wedding gifts. Lash extensions are a few hundred tiny placements in a row while someone lies very still and trusts you, which turns out to be excellent training for a needle. Same hands. Same quiet room. Very different appointment.

What you can expect
High standards, no rushing, and a consultation before anything starts. Your comfort matters to me more than getting you out the door on time, and I would rather run long than hand you something I am not happy with.

Fun Facts About Jess

I’m one of four and the eldest of my 3 siblings

I have a bachelor of teaching degree and taught all primary years 2016 - present. I even taught overseas in Malaysia

I’ve been to 18 international countries

I’m terrified of spiders and turkeys. Spiders? Self explanatory. Turkeys? Little Jess was chased by one at a kids farm

I have always had a passion for art, which is the thread running through all of this. Drawings, chopping boards, lash maps, brow mapping and now skin.

I am obsessed with personal development. Being surrounded by likeminded, empowering women is something I can’t imagine my life without and that is why I will always chase the next retreat or group container. I value mentorship and personal growth and love talking to my clients about everything I have learnt through these opportunities.
